star wars stop motion test

Star wars stop motion test with a lego bionicle.

The background movie is The Empire Strikes Back. The stop motion was done with a green screen behind the Bionicle.

The Bionicle is "Brutaka".

Usually plastic things tend to have weak joints - if they have movable parts. This bionicle had real strong ball/swivel joints. It worked very well.
What you see is my last attempt of three, trying to create smooth movement. I finally gave up and started moving the arms and legs frantically.

The script goes something like. Sneeze, wave arms, spin around and rip a leg out of the socket. (the feet were screwed into a piece of plywood)
And finally, a bow.

I'm going to rate this higher than the original.

In fact, I wish the entire movie was done this way. Outstanding!

Try laying the Bioncle down and shooting from the top. It is easier to get those itty bitty incremental movements if it isn't going to tip over every time you touch it.
